 SERVER CONSOLIDATION
Home > Services > Server Consolidation
This service is offered for Unix, Linux and Windows environments.
The aim of this project is to evaluate the opportunity to reduce the total number of Servers to manage. The activity requires medium, long term data to analyze, in order to calculate also seasonal peaks.
The activity is divided in the following steps:
Phase 1: Evaluation of assets
• Count of systems and identification of their main role and functions;
• Evaluation of a benchmark index common to all Servers, in order to make comparisons.
Phase 2: “Baseline” definition
• Selection of a representative period;
• Discovery of the peak period for each function;
• Evaluation of the resource utilization;
• Evaluation of the eventual latent demand;.
• Evaluation of the peak/average ratio.
Phase 3: Historical data analysis
• Growth trend in the cpu power usage for each function;
• Evaluation of hourly, daily, monthly, seasonal peaks.
Phase 4: Definition of the growth scenarios
• Evaluation of the physiological growth in the last period and forecast of the future growth.
• Evaluation of planned growth for the next 1-2 years due to:
°new applications,
°modification of existent applications,
°architectural and technological evolution.
Phase 5: Consolidation proposal
• Design of evolution scenarios for the different functions and forecast of the needed amount of resources for each function.
• Production of the final document.
