Top Consumers Automatic Control

(Story 1) At a big bank site, EPV highlighted a STC (Netview Automation) using more than 800 MIPS; they compiled the Netview execs and the usage dropped down to 100 MIPS

(Story 2) After EPV installation, Performance Analysts discovered the RMFGAT task used about 4-5 MIPS in some LPARs, 15-16 MIPS on other 10 LPARs and 20 MIPS on another one; looking at the RMF options they found that detailed online CACHE data were collected on the 10 LPARs and that the sampling CYCLE was set too high on the 20 MIPS LPAR; by simply setting appropriate RMF options they saved 125 MIPS.

(Story 3) Looking at Page fault trends an EPV customer discovered an ISV tool running every Monday in the morning and causing a very heavy stress on the system memory with consequent application performance degradation.
